About the Pharmacology Program

In the Pharmacology program, we carry out education and research in the fields of drug-discovery pharmacology, life-science pharmacology, and clinical pharmacology. Our purpose is to train high-level specialist professionals and independent researchers who can take a teaching role, with specialist knowledge of the discovery and development of new drugs by industry, government, and academia. We also accept applicants who are graduates in a wide range of other scinetific fields.

We also have both daytime and evening classes, as well as a Special Selection System for working people and an Extended Study system, so that working people can study for a master's degree or doctorate. Additionally, we have an Audit System in which we conduct graduate-level classes for those who work.

Admission policy

Purpose

The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences provides education and research in the field of pharmaceutical sciences and plays a leading role among highly spacialized professionals and society in general in drug discovery, the life science, and clinical drug sciences. Our purpose is to train researchers.

Admission policy

We welcome individuals who understand and empathize with the goals and objectives of the University, agree with the goals set by the Program. We offer several windows during which we accept applications in a fair and transparent manner.

Masters Program

Through resarch on various issues in the fields of basic, applied, and clinical drug sciences, we train technologists, researchers, and science teachers to acquire a scientific perspective along with research skills, and develop technologies related to pharmaceutical, chemical, and food companies and research organizations. Of researchers.

Doctoral Program

Based on the knowledge and skills developed in the master's program in the drug discovery, biopharmaceutical, and clinical drug sciences, we strive to train professionals with advanced expertise in developing drugs that are safe. We accept students who want to be active researchers.

Application requirements
1.
By recommendation
  • Graduates of Mukogawa Women's University School of Pharmacy Department of Health and Biopharmacological Sciences, or those about to graduate
  • Graduates of other science departments at Mukogawa Women's university or other universities, or those about to graduate from such departments, and having academic attainment in Life Sciences or Chemistry recognized as equivalent to ①.

However, in this case please consult with the faculty member you wish to study under, to confirm that you can receive a recommendation.

General selection
  • University graduates, or those about to graduate
  • Those granted a Bachelor's degree by the National Institution for Academic Degrees and University Evaluation, or about to receive a similar degree
  • Those who have completed 16 years of education outside Japan, or are about to complete such education
  • Those who have completed 16 years of schooling at a school outside Japan via correspondence learning from within Japan, or are about to complete such education
  • Those who have completed a course of study within Japan at an educational institution recognized by a foreign country's education system as offering that country's university-level course of study (must be one whose graduates are considered to have completed 16 years of that country's school education), and specifically designated by the Minister of Education, or those about to complete such a course of study
  • Those who have completed a specialist course at a vocational school (must be at least a 4-year course of studies, and fulfill all other criteria decided by the Minister of Education) specifically designated by the Minister of Education, after the date when it was so designated, or about to coplete such a course
  • Those designated by the Minister of Education (Ministry Announcement #5 of 1953)
  • Those recognized by this Graduate School, after an individual entrance eligibility screening, as having a level of academic attainment equivalent to that of a university graduate, and who will be at least 22 years old by the end of the school year.

Note: Those wishing to apply under ⑧ above will undergo an individual entrance eligibility screening. Please inquire beforehand at the School of Pharmacy office.

Special Selection for working People
Those who fulfill any one of the requirements for General Selection above, and also fulfill the following conditions:
Be in a profession related to medicine (at a medical facility, a pharmaceutical company, etc.), and have obtained permission from one's employer to study for a Master's degree in Pharmacology while continuing in employment.
Selection examination

By recommendation
Applicants who have graduated (or are expecting to graduate) from Mukogawa Women's University's Health and Bio-Pharmaceutical Sciences undergraduate program, or have graduated (or expect to graduate) from the Department or Faculty of Science of another university. Admission will be determined from submitted documents and an interview.
2.
General selection
Candidates who meet our application requirements will be evaluated according to their performance on a written examination on the subject of specialization(?) and English as well as an interview.
Applicants with a score of 550 or higher on TOEIC will be exampt from taking our English examination.
3.
Special Selection for working People
Workers in medical institutions such as medical institutions or pharmaceutical companies who meet our admissions requirements and have received their employer's consent to pursue a master's degree will be evaluated according to a written statement as well as an interview.

Application requirements
1.
General Selection
  • Those having a master's degree or a professional degree, or those about to obtain such a degree
  • Those granted a degree in a foreign country equivalent to a Master's or professional degree in Japan, or who are abbout to obtain such a degree
  • Those who have been granted a degree equivalent to a Master's or professional degree in Japan, after completing a course of study offered by an overseas institution via correspondence learning from within Japan; or who are about to be granted such a degree
  • Those who have completed a course of study within Japan at an educational institution recognized by a foreign country's education system as offering that country's Master's-level course of study, and specifically designated by the Minister of Education, and who have been granted a Master's or equivalent professional degree; or those about to complete such a course of study and obtain such a degree
  • Those designated by the Minister of Education (Ministry Announcement #118 of 1989)
  • Those recognized by this Graduate School, after an individual entrance eligibility screening, as having a level of academic attainment equivalent to a Master's or professional degree, and who will be at least 24 years old by the end of the school year. Note that having copleted a six-year program in Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, or Veterinary Medicine will not, in itself, be automatically considered equivalent to a Master's program or allow entrance to the Doctoral program.
  • *Some types of professional degrees may not be accepted as qualifications to apply. please be sure to inquire of the Department through the entrance Examination Center.

Acceptance into the program will be determined based on the research results in the master's program, oral defense, or some alternative. In some cases, a written examination, including English, may also be required.

General Selection
Applicants currently working in hospitals, pharmacies, universities, research institutes, or companies at the time of application and are recommended by their director will have an oral examination focusing on the results of their master's research, master's thesis, or alternative.
