With the approach of the super-aging society, medical progress has been remarkable.

There is a great societal expectation to research and develop new drugs. There is also a need to train researchers who can take charge of drug discovery research and deveopment as well as a need to train pharmacists who can adapt to advances in medicine.

Our graduate school is based on drug discovery and the life sciences, and clinical sciences, as well as a clinical sciences, for the Master's and Doctoral Program, and a 6-year Pharmaceutical Sciences program, which forcuses on pharmacotherapy and pracical medical pharmacy. The program consists of a 4-year doctoral program, which focuses on both education and research.

In the former program, drug discovery scientists are trained to become leaders with deep expertise and both cross-sectional and ingegrated capabilities in a wide range of fields. In the latter program, we train pharmacists with the ability to research in fields related to medicine and life related to medical care.

Furthermore, in our graduate school, we offer an education and guidance system that is not only open to graduates of 4-year and 6-year undergraduate pharmacy programs, but also master's degree holders and graduates of other programs.

Faculty members collaborate and cooperate across disciplines withoug being restricted by their respective areas of research, and work to ensure that students acquire not only research skills, but also leadership and presentation skills. This is a feature of both of our doctoral progwams. With this diversity, we cultivate graduates students' abiity to respond to advances, diversification, and internationationalization in medical care.

Graduate school is not only a place to learn predecessors' wisdon, but a place to explore the unknown and search for truth. We try to solve problems that no-one has solved before and we derive answers by experimenting. Data obtained from experiments shows us truths that no-one has uncovered before. A major feature of phramaceutical research is that, along with the joy of such discoveries, one can also feel the value of contributing to human health.

We look forward to your participation in our programs.

Pharmacy Program

Our Pharmaceutical Science program conducts education and research in the fields of pharmacotherapy and practical medical pharmacy. Our aim is to train highly skilled researchers professionals and independent researchers who play a leading role in researching pharmacuticals and their use.

Pharmaceutical Sciences Program

In our Pharmaceutical Sciences program, we conduct research and education in the fields of drug discovery and clinical drug sciences. Our aim is to train researchers who can take on leadership roles. In addition, we welcome students from science faculties and graduate programs other than pharmacy.

In addition, we have established a special selection system for working adults and a long-term student system for such students who aim to earn master's or doctoral degress. with day and night classes. We have also established a system through which students and members of the general public may audit graduate courses.

Pharmaceutical Sciences: Night School

Working adults and graduate school admissions

In 2010, the Pharmaceutical Sciences Program established a special selection system for accepting adults working in related medical facilities such as medical institutions and pharmaceutical companies into our Master's Program.
Curriculum

Pharmacists' working environments have changed significantly in recent years due to rapid progress in the division of labor, the development of new types of pharmaceuticals, and advances in medical technology. Therefore, there is a need for high-quality and reliable pharmacists who work ethically while responding to these changes. Future pharmacists will have the ability to adapt to constantly increasing knowledge and skills, and will also need to continue to study for the rest of their careers.
It is indispensable for post-graduate education to systematically organize and teach knowledge and skills that have been obtained. In addition, in order to improve the quality of work, it will be necessary to continue to study independently over a lifetime.
This is why pharmacists' training has been extended to six years.
In order to achieve these objectives, the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at Mukogawa Women's University established the Clinical Pharmacy program in the Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences in 1999, which offers both day and night courses. In 2004, this program was reorganized as the current Medical Pharmacy program. In 2010, we created our nightschool program for working adults along with the 6-year system in the undergraduate School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Lectures are conducted by our own faculty members, as well as visiting faculty from other universities, from hospitals, and from retail pharmacies, who are active on the front lines.
The curriculum for training and practicums is designed so that students can acquire the latest technology in our Clinical Pharmacy Education Center.

Long-term Student System

A normal study period for the Pharmaceutical Sciences program takes two years for the master's program and three years for the doctoral program, or four years for the doctoral program in Pharmacy.
In consideration of time constraints due to work and other circumstances, these programs are difficult to complete. In our program, tuition for one year is reduced.
To take advantage of this system, we will conduct a screening based on your application, and you will be able to complete your studies over a longer period of time.

Auditing system

In the Pharmaceutical Sciences Program, established an audit system for courses offered at the master's level for medical professionals such as pharmacists, nurses, pharmaceutical sales representatives, and pharmacy managers, graduates of 4-year undergraduate programs in pharmacy as well as other disciplines. We also accept working adults who are holders of 4-year undergraduate degrees.

For the master's program:

Registration

  • After being enrolled in the program for at least two years and earning at least 30 credits, submit a thesis, and pass a final comprehensive examination.
  • The required 30 credits or more are to be earned in the following combinations: 4 credits in practical science research, 4 credits in Practical Pharmaceutical Science I & II, 2 credits in Special Practical Pharmaceutical Science I & II, and 20 or more in lecture courses.
